	PeMM Against the Harvest of Corals by PeMM (15-Feb-2008) Chancing upon an old newspaper article published in a local daily dated November 17, 2007; it was reported that the Negeri Sembilan/Melaka Fisheries department prevented the illegal harvest of corals at Tanjung Tuan, Port Dickson. PeMM wishes to extend our congratulations to the Negeri Sembilan / Melaka Fisheries department on a job well done in enforcing the law and preventing the further harvest of the corals.

	Kelong fishing- don’t believe it is all R&R by James Tye (20-Jan-2008) I heard about the annual PeMM Kelong trip some years ago. The general feedback would be it’s a good R&R trip doing some sabiki fishing and if you are lucky, you might also land some sizable catch. 	Alien Fishing Competition by (03-Dec-2007) In conjunction with Majlis Bandaraya Petaling Jaya’s first anniversary, PeMM was requested by the authorities to organize a fishing competition in conjunction with the authorities Program Karnival Mesra Rakyat on 9 June, 2007.

	Another Predatory Fish for Our Local Waters by Richard Chuan (01-Dec-2007) Below is an extraction of a letter of complaint from Persatuan Memancing Malaysia submitted to the major newspapers. This letter was drafted when En Aznir Malek reported the sale of another alien species; the Northern Pike in a pet shop situated in Sri Damansara, Petaling Jaya. Also attached is the reply from Jabatan Perikanan on the issue; published in The Star newspaper dated Novemeber 18, 2007.

	Toman Restocking Programme by PeMM (09-Jun-2007) With the MBPJ/PeMM Alien Fish Angling Competition being held on June 9, 2007; PeMM Vice President Ridzuan Ghazali suggested that we restock the Taman Jaya lake with local fish species after the removal of the alien fishes.

	Depletion of Marine Resources by Richard Chuan (28-May-2007) This is a copy of correspondence to The New Straits Times and The Star dated 28 May, 2007 in reply to their report on a statement by the Malaysian Fisheries Department Director General Datuk Junaidi Che Ayuh that overfishing by the nelayan would mean depletion of fish stocks in coastal areas.

	Angling Fair 2006 by Philemon Foo (06-May-2006) The 2006 Angling Fair is a success. This year the fair also included a travel fair that allowed anglers to book trips angling or not at reasonable prices. PeMM took this opportunity to educate the public on various issues and conservation efforts. Other than that PeMM also organized events like fly tying and lure tying demonstration that attracted a lot of people.

	PeMM's Contribution… by PeMM (05-Apr-2006) PeMM as it is affectionately known has been involved in Conservation and Environmental matters for the past few years, playing a small but significant role. As an association of anglers, we have chosen our path in the direction of conservation of local fish species. This mainly because there are other associations and NGO’s that seeks protection of the multiple varieties of local flora and fauna but not the local fishes

	Alien Fish Angling Competition at Taman Tasik Bandaran Kelana Jaya by PeMM (28-Mar-2006) In conjunction with World Wetlands Day, celebrated on 26 February, a celebration was held at Taman Tasik Bandaran Kelana Jaya. This event was held in collaboration with Majlis Perbandaran Petaling Jaya, Wetlands International, Global Environmental Centre, Friends of Kelana Park and Persatuan Memancing Malaysia.

	Scouts Boating Clinic by PeMM (23-Mar-2006) Following the success of the Angling clinic recently, the Scout Troop of SK Seri Kembangan requested for a boating clinic to enable them to obtain their respective outdoors badge.

	A Show of Gratitude by PeMM (06-Dec-2005) Persatuan Memancing Malaysia finally caught up with Kapt (rtd) Mohd. Shahril; GM of Celcom Malaysia to show our appreciation for the donation of the 10 foot aluminium boat.

	PeMM Toman Relocation Programme by PeMM (05-Nov-2005) PeMM's ongoing Save Our Species (SOS) campaign which calls for the control of alien fish species in our local waters was given another boost recently. A few PeMM members headed by Vice President George Chin took it upon themselves to organize a Toman fishing excursion with the purpose of relocation of the fish to alien fish infested waters.

	Presentation of Certificates to the Scout Troop of SK Seri Kembangan by PeMM (04-Nov-2005) November 15, 2005 saw the presentation of the inaugural PeMM Angling Clinic certificates to the scout troop of SK Seri Kembangan who successfully completed their angling course on September 3 and 4, 2005

	A Gesture of Appreciation by PeMM (12-Oct-2005) Sea Tackle Malaysia Sdn Bhd today showed that volunteerism does have its rewards. In appreciation for the hard work put in by volunteers at the PeMM booth at the Angling Fair at South City Plaza; Sea Tackle (M) Sdn Bhd Executive Director, Mr Charles Wong presented 20 sets of fishing reels for their effort.

	Alien Fish Culling at Subang Jaya Lake by PeMM (14-Sep-2005) For years now, the Subang Jaya lakes has been turned into a “fish dumping ground” for unwanted aquarium species which included the Peacock Bass, Jaguar Cichlid, Flower Horn, Red Emperor, Ikan Bandaraya and a host of other species.

	Angling Clinic for Scout Troop of SK Seri Kembangan Day 2 by PeMM (12-Sep-2005) After yesterday's theory presentations at SK Seri Kembangan, the scouts were eager to put into practice what they have learned. Exactly at 8.30am, a chartered Bas Sekolah arrived at Tasik Subang, ferrying 35 boisterous and anxious scouts and one Scout Master.

	Angling Clinic for Scout Troop of SK Seri Kembangan Day 1 by PeMM (08-Sep-2005) PeMM being an established federal angling organization was approached by the Scout Master of SK Sri Kembangan to hold an angling clinic for his troop. This was to enable the children to grasp what angling is all about and to enable them to procure their angling badge.

	Tasik Empangan Subang Angling Excursion by PeMM (30-Aug-2005) Finally, 28 August 2005 has arrived! The day awaited by so many as it opens a new chapter in the annals of PeMM history. The PeMM Committee 2005/2006 has secured entry permits to Tasik Empangan Subang for a day of angling.

	The Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge Day 2 by PeMM (24-Aug-2005) The first report that came in was the capture of a sailfish measuring around 70 odd inches. It was however not caught by the participants but by our Yang Berhormat Dato’ Maznah Mazlan who had gone fishing with PeMM Deputy President, Mr Simon Lee and Vice-President En Ridzuan Ghazali!

	The PeMM Billfish Conservation Programme by PeMM (18-Aug-2005) Recently, McDonalds Malaysia took the billfish conservation programme a step further when it was published in their newsletter that is distributed monthly via email to all their stores and Headquarters employees, in an effort to further highlight the plight of the Billfish.

	The Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge Day 1 by PeMM (16-Aug-2005) August 6, 2005 dawned with much excitement in the air. This was the day that 33 international teams of anglers would do battle among themselves for the coveted first place on the winners podium at the Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge 2005.

	The RPBIC - A job well done by the PeMM certified Marshalls by PeMM (15-Aug-2005) The Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge 2005 has come and gone. PeMM wishes to take this opportunity to record a word of gratitude for the job well done by the Marshalls and Volunteers

	The Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge 2005 by PeMM (09-Aug-2005) The Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge; under the patronage of HRH Sultan of Pahang, started two years ago with the participation of anglers from neighbouring countries.

	PeMM Inaugural Instructors Course by Richard Chuan (03-Aug-2005) The morning of May 7, 2005 saw the launching of the inaugural instructors course at Kelana Jaya. The purpose of the course was to provide certified PeMM instructors for clinics and courses conducted by PeMM in the educational field.

	PeMM Marshall Clinic by Richard Chuan (31-Jul-2005) The PeMM Marshall clinic was held on 31 July 2005 and received a good response from both the PeMM members as well as volunteers. By 10.00am, the New Straits Times Press Training room at Jalan Riong was filled with eager participants.

	PeMM's Interaction with the Lim Kok Wing Institute by Richard Chuan (05-May-2005) PeMM being a federal organization on angling in Malaysia was invited by the Lim Kok Wing Institute to address some of their students majoring in graphic design.

	Pertandingan Memancing ZOO NEGARA 2005 by Cun Cak (12-Apr-2005) Tarikh 10 April 2005 yang lalu mungkin merupakan tarikh yang memberikan sinar baru kepada nasib-nasib Toman yang berjaya dipancing keluar dari jerumunnya didalam tasik. Tetapi kali ini ia dikeluarkan bukannya untuk 'disematkan' ke tali gantung, tetapi ia akan dibawa dan dipindahkan ke satu kawasan yang lain untuk menyambung kehidupannya.

	PeMM News and Views No. 13 by Tony Wee (01-Oct-2004) Coming on top of this Sabah achievement, we recently had an opportunity to visit the timber town of Kapit in Sarawak to see another attempt at river and fish conservation. The experience was unforgettable, both from the Cultural and Ecological viewpoints.
